Planned Parenthood
The Spot On app

Voice and user experience

Sex ed in the US is scary.
-Only 24 states require sex education
-35 states allow parents to opt their kids out
-26 states require that abstinence be stressed over other forms of contraception

Kids aren’t getting the info they need in school so they search for answers in places we did not expect:
-Porn sites
-Youtube
-Forums with answers from randoms

We recreated The Spot On app to help people with periods learn about their bodies and stay on top of their cycles.

I helped recreate the voice and user journey for this app. The most interesting thing was finding emojis for notifications. Ones that were telegraphic, yet understated so only the user would know what the reminder meant.

We start with a personalized welcome screen with cycle status, a place to ask questions, and a way to easily log symptoms via emojis.

To show them that they’re not alone, we curate online inquiries asked by people similar to them, and serve up answers from us and credible influencers.
